The next wave

After FYP was over (not quite but mostly), I thought I could prop up my legs to relax for a while.

BUT not for long...

All of a sudden, there are assignments to hand in, presentations (ok only 1 presentation) to do, and (gasp) a listening test coming up!

Oh and the exams are less than a month away.

The unmistakable heavy feeling in my chest is back again.

And procrastination isn't helping either. *duck*

Feeling down

I never mounted a kerb all these months and I had to do it during my driving test.

If only I could bawl right now but that'd be too ugly.

At a loss for words

The following dialogue came from tuition this evening with two Korean teenagers. JH is a 14-year-old girl studying in a local government secondary school. DY is a 13-year-old boy studying in a private school.

JH: Teacher teacher can I ask you something?
Me: Ya?
JH: Today in school, a boy scold a girl cheebye. The girl was so angry. She hit the boy and the cried.
Me: (dreading what is to come next) uh huh
JH: What is cheebye?
Me: er... it is a bad word... in hokkien
DY: Cheebye? (says in Korean) It is a girl's name, isn't it?
JH: What does it mean? Cheebye (giggles)
Me: ... if you really want to know... it means the female genitalia...
JH: What is genitalia?
Me: (Takes my leave from the room while the two kids continue to mutter cheebye under their breaths.)

I guess I should have been cooler with my answer but this is the kind of situation where you never have the perfect answer on the spot. You'll think of dozens of other smart replies like 20 minutes later and by then it's too loserish and pathetic to go back to the topic. ><

Erm...

I received the weirdest phone call at 1am. It was a number I did not recognise.

Me: Hello?
Guy: (in gruff voice) Hello?
Me: Yes?
Guy: Hello?
Me: Hello? Who is this???
Guy: (mumbles something.. eric? deric? aric? wtf...)
Me: (Searches brain for someone I know with his name and his grumpy voice)
Guy: This is Mei Yan right?
Me: Yes...
Guy: Are you at home now?
Me: Yes... what's your name again?
Guy: (mumbles something again, this time in an irritated tone... wtf x 2)
Me: ...
Guy: You're busy now, is it?
Me: (feeling a bit freaked by now) Er yah yah..

And then he hangs up abruptly.

Can anyone tell me who the @#$@^! that was??!?!?

Forgotten music...

Wanting to maximise the use of the new iPod, I tore through my cupboard earlier this evening looking for CDs I could rip.

And there in the moldy heap, I found treasure. I had almost forgotten how much I loved those albums I bought in the past - the tunes and lyrics that moved me when I was a teenager and continue to do so now. I am really glad to have them back on my playlist again.

Day Before Yesterday by Scout (Felicity soundtrack)

If you lied it wouldn't change a thing
It don't take a bell to ring
There you were the day before
You knew you had to go
You know it's never going to be the same

So why hurry
I'll make you smile
You can forget for a while

Why are you playing picture games
Hidden in a plastic frame
There you were the day before
Falling into love
You know it's not supposed to stay the same
It's not supposed to stay that way

So why worry
I'll make you smile
You can forget for a while.

Feeling loved :-)

Things that made me smile today:

1. Waking up to well wishes from friends on my mobile phone.

2. Crooning Mayday songs non-stop at KBox with YZ. Can't wait for the next session!

3. Getting surprised by XL and ZY (and also YZ and Norm) with the cake at West Mall. That is the absolute sweetest thing any of my friends have ever done for me. Thank you all so much! (And sorry that the first word I could manage when I saw ZY and XL coming in was "SHIT". *LOL*)

4. Seeing the almost-finished FYP in pdf. It was really rewarding and it was truly a team effort, even if we had our differences. :-)

5. Receiving pressies from the 3 kids at home. *heart melts*

6. Coming home to see an iPod lying on my bed, complete with a personalised message from H. *smile*

Shit I really love everyone.
