dilemma

Cedar Point in Ohio or Six Flags in New York??

Ugh I hate to make such choices!

Lazy,,

Been sometime since my last post. Getting lazy heh....

Excited over many things.. WAT in USA.. post-fyp celebration plans.. and of course the upcoming HK trip.. =)

Enjoyed talking with (x) at Swensens tonight. We concluded that most people in our school are idealists and have ambitions too lofty for our own good.

We are determined to live a life less ordinary, to traverse the globe, to look beyond our tiny island for opportunities but as to how exactly we are going to achieve all these, we're still trying to figure it out...

Maybe as H pointed out the other time, it is true that in CS, we can be more daring in our ambitions because most of our families are financially comfortable. He said many of the lower-middle class students tend to choose to pursue more "practical" courses like engineering because they are more or less guaranteed of a well-paying job upon graduation.

As (x) and I were saying, they are also the ones who do not mind living out their lives the same way every day for the next 30 years - waking up at 7, working from 9 to 5 in their business attires, getting married at 26, have 2 kids by 30... etc...

No offence to anyone but it is the kind of life that, we think, may bring certain regrets many years later...

Both my lower legs are now battlefields of mosquito bites after visiting the Kampong Lorong Buang Kok on Tuesday. The first thing the village head commented when she saw me was "You're wearing black! Mosquitoes love black." There are at least 30 red spots on my left leg. I hope they go away soon. The itch is driving me crazy. Mopiko can only do that much.

I hate thieves.

Thieves are those who rip your (and your friend's) ideas off as their own
Thieves are also those who steal your table at coffee shops from right under your nose!

In the evening, H and I were having difficulty looking for a table at the coffee shop near my place and just when we spotted one and was making our way there (it was obvious we saw the table FIRST and were nearer to it), this girl kept eyeing us anxiously and cut across my path (pushed past me hor!!!) to run to the table.

My immediate reaction was to yell: "SHE BLATANTLY TOOK OUR TABLE AWAY!"

Really sorry to H whom I am sure was embarrassed by my outburst (cos I sure was loud) but I was damn pissed!!! That girl was probably not older than 16 and this is the kind of kiasu, ungracious and RUDE Singaporeans that are breeding in the heartlands??? Still feel like throttling her neck now I swear.

*takes a deep breath*

Sorry for ranting. I need to meditate.

feeling satisfied

After some editing in class yesterday, these are the three pictures I like best.

(X) and I met in town yesterday, wanting to take pictures for our pop assignment but we ended up following this whole bunch of people in white T-shirts to the padang. There were like 20,000 of such people there for the launch for the Healthy Lifestyle Campaign (erm if we are not wrong lah..) and the Prime Minister was there!! So naturally there were all the press photogs but sadly, they were all old uncles, none of whom we wanted to see....

But anyway, I saw all these uncles on stage snapping away (to get a bird's eye view of 20,000 ppl in white doing aerobics) and I joined them up there just for kicks (lol). It was really shiok! It is true that holding a camera really provides you with a "purpose" to hang around someplace you're not supposed to be in. Everyone just assumed (X) and I were event or press photogs when we were just goofing around. *guffaws*

I have never seen 20,000 Singaporeans so enthusiastic about aerobics ever in my life. A pity I did not have a wide-angle lens at the time. The crowd was wayyy bigger than what's in the 2nd picture.)

False Alarm by KT Tunstall

I'm trying to put this thing to bed
I drugged it in its sleep
There isn't many memories I'm comfortable to keep
This ball keeps rolling on
It's heading for the street
Keep expecting you to send for me
The invitation never comes

Each time I turn around
There's nothing there at all
So tell me why I feel like
I'm up against a wall

But maybe it's a false alarm
And every answer sounds the same
Just colours bleeding into one that hasn't got a name
Maybe I can't see
Maybe it's just me

And the curtain's coming up
The audience is still
I'm struggling to cater for
The space I'm meant to fill
And distance doesn't care
No distance doesn't care

***

If someone gave me a dollar each time I lost my sanity, I would be loaded by now.

minimalism

After some "effort" seeking out the very few corners of my 3-rm flat, I finally managed to take 10 pictures to fit into the minimalism theme for my GE assignment. Feeling a bit disgruntled with a few images. Been getting this a lot lately. Never really satisfied with what I have taken. After reviewing, I always feel I should have done this better or that better, should have waited for better light, should have waited for a man to walk past to have a nice silhouette on the wall (as in 1 of the pix below), should have put my shutter a little slower, a little faster, should have cropped the image tighter, looser... and the list goes on...
